The majesty of natural stone is perhaps best expressed by the magnificence of the stone castles of England. Inspired by the rustic appeal of natural stone, we wondered if the material could be used to make functional and beautiful grates...

Yet, the sheer cost of using thick slabs of natural stone proved to be commercially unviable. Reconstituted stone, although having aesthetic appeal, was too weak and unreliable to satisfy safety standards and requirements. A new solution had to be found.

HISTORY

Over four painstaking years, we worked hard to make our muse a reality. We embarked on an expedition to find the answer, investigating minerals and formulation technology. So driven by our passion were we that we faced down significant technological and financial challenges during this period. Influenced by the very material we were studying, we found rock-steady strength and perseverance to finally emerge with the innovation that is Jonite.

Creating Jonite was the first part of the journey. The other was in ensuring its consistent quality. Due to our completely new technological and production requirements, there were no satisfactory standard machines we could use for mass production. We spent a further two years consulting with international engineers, building from scratch an automated production line.
