Designing for play, nature, and community

Over the years, the Gardens have undergone several phases of landscape enhancements—with Jonite grates featured in multiple zones as part of these ongoing upgrades. In the latest phase completed in 2025, a newly introduced children’s playground is a vibrant and imaginative space where nature meets play. Designed as a place for exploration and adventure, the playground is part of the Gardens’ ongoing commitment to creating inclusive, family-friendly public spaces that celebrate both sustainability and design.

Jonite was once again selected to supply trench grates—this time to frame and support the infrastructure surrounding the new play area. In close collaboration with the design team, Jonite developed custom curved trench grates that follow the organic flow of the landscape, blending into the sinuous forms of the playground’s layout.

Engineered for performance and safety, these trench grates provide effective water management while also serving as subtle design elements that complement the surrounding natural and built environments.
