Adaptive stone elements for a cohesive campus landscape
In line with the college’s bold yet environmentally conscious approach, Jonite was engaged to develop a series of custom seating elements throughout the grounds. These benches, fabricated from reinforced stone panels originally designed as tree grates, were reimagined as sculptural, wall-mounted seating.
With their perforated stone surfaces echoing organic patterns, the benches serve not only as functional rest points, but also as architectural details that tie together the campus’s green courtyards, rooftop gardens, and student gathering spaces. Their modularity and strength enabled flexible placement across a range of environments—from stair landings and sky gardens to intimate corners tucked beneath trees.

Material versatility in service of design and sustainability
Jonite’s engineered stone provides both visual and structural integrity, allowing the architect to realize bold configurations without compromising on durability or safety. These installations highlight the potential of adaptive design—where standard elements are transformed into custom solutions that reflect the spirit and sustainability goals of the campus.
