Precision tailoring for an iconic landmark
Jonite trench grates and sump covers were selected as part of the hardscape infrastructure around the Burj Khalifa, seamlessly integrated into the base of the world’s tallest tower. While their primary role is functional—managing drainage and ensuring safety—these elements were also carefully considered from a design perspective. Custom colours were developed specifically to match the luxurious natural stone pavers surrounding the tower, ensuring a refined and cohesive visual language throughout the landscape. With their stone-like texture and tailored dimensions, Jonite’s engineered stone products quietly echo the modern elegance of the tower itself.

Beyond visual harmony, performance under pressure was essential. Several zones around the Burj required grating solutions capable of handling heavy vehicular traffic, including fire engine access. Jonite’s D400 load-rated trench grates met these demands with precision—engineered to provide exceptional strength, weather resistance, and long-term durability in mission-critical environments.
